This blog post is an oldie but a goodie.  I released a couple years ago but everyone always seems to forget about green tea and it’s plethora (did I just use plethora?) of benefits.

I looooove drinking green tea right after a big meal because it helps with my digestion and it keeps me from reaching for something sweet.  Make this a staple in your daily nutrition.  Replace your coffee’s and soda pops for this little drink.  It will literally make you younger, extend your life and boost your immune system.

Here are the 25 reasons you should be drinking Green Tea.


1. Green Tea and Cancer
Green tea helps reduce the risk of cancer. The antioxidant in green tea is 100 times more effective than vitamin C and 25 times better than vitamin E. This helps your body at protecting cells from damage believed to be linked to cancer.

2. Green Tea and Heart Disease
Green tea helps prevent heart disease and stroke by lowering the level of cholesterol. Even after the heart attack, it prevents cell deaths and speeds up the recovery of heart cells.

3. Green Tea and Anti-Aging
Green tea contains antioxidant known as polyphenols which fight against free radicals. What this means it helps you fight against aging and promotes longevity.

    Do you have a particular brand that you recommend and can it be Caffeine free – let me know and Have happy Holiday

  2. Hey Kerry! Hope all is well with you! I miss you guys at Harlequin and I’ll be visiting in the new year! As for green tea you can definitely get the decaffeinated versions and it will have the same effect.

    When searching for Green tea I would recommend shopping in Chinese and Japanese supermarkets as they have the best quality green tea.

    I would stick with Chinese and Japanese Brands. American brands are known to have a high amount of additives our body doesn’t need….and they just taste very different in general.

    Specific brands to look for? I hate to be general but I would say anything Chinese or Japanese would suffice.

    Is it bad to add either sugar, honey, or basically anything to the green tea because I tried drinking before but it has this odd taste to me I find it hard to swallow.

  5. Hey Diane! Thanks for the question! One green tea a day is recommended. The idea is to drink it consistently for it to have any long term effect.

  6. Hey Tonie! It’s bad in the sense that you are adding extra calories to your drink. I would keep it natural and only add honey to your green tea. It won’t mess with any other benefit than the fat loss element.

    What kinds of green tea have you tried? I would try switching up brands (American to Chinese or Japanese) before adding anything sugary.

    Yes it was some generic brand I got in the grocery store. I will go to an asian store and get the proper one….hopefully this wont have such a bad taste. Thanks Dan!
